Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry is how we can replace any missing or damaged teeth. Fillings, crowns (“caps”), bridges and implants are common restorative options. We have many options to to bring back your natural smile and prevent any future oral health issues.

Below are just some of the restorative dentistry services we offer.

Crowns

A crown is a tooth-shaped cap that replaces or restores a damaged or deteriorated tooth. The tooth can be restored to its original shape or be altered to improve its appearance. Crowns cover the entire tooth and are permanently bonded. The material choices are vast and requires careful consideration to ensure a successful result. Our doctors are experienced with the materials and they know which work best in certain situations.

Bridges

Bridges literally “bridge” the gap between one or more missing teeth. They help to maintain facial appearance and to improve and maintain a stable bite. A dental bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and a false tooth/teeth in between. With the advancements in materials, bridges can now appear natural while protecting and maintaining your bite.

Fillings

Fillings are a common way to repair smaller areas of damage to teeth from cavities or minor fractures. Majority of fillings are done using white composite fillings. The advantage of white fillings is a more conservative preparation of the affected area. This conserves more natural tooth structure and therefore maintains the strength of the tooth. And the result is the appearance of your tooth as if nothing has been done. Of course silver fillings can also be replaced so they don’t stand out when you are talking or laughing. Although not used frequently, there are some circumstances where using a silver filling is warranted.

Dentures and Partials

Dentures are removable false teeth designed to replace missing teeth. Depending on how many natural teeth you have lost, your dentist may recommend complete (full) dentures or partial dentures. If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, complete dentures can replace your missing teeth and your smile. This will benefit both your appearance and your health, as dentures will support your facial muscles and keep you looking younger.
